FOREST TREKKING
The Somadida Forest is well known since 1463 for its splendid trees, perfectly straight, used by "Serenissima" (the ancient Venetian republic) to make yards for their vessels. It is located at Palus San Marco (hamlet of Auronzo), it is state property and it is protected by Forester Corp. Inside it, besides its nature and landscape, wonderful indeed, we can find a little naturalistic museum (flora and fauna), several pic-nic points, the waterfall and many more.
The road track that allow the visit (with different circular routes)
is part of the sleddog race that every winter is run here in Palus.
Entering this marvellous wood we can discover
the wild and uncivilized nature, at the same time tidy and respectful;
the rings have different lenght: 3, 5 and 8 Km.;
toward north, going on the track, one can arrive in Cortina d'Ampezzo concil (at 2 km from road fork)
